Artificial green walls
Artificial green walls, indoors and on the facade.
Dense foliage that needs no water, light or pruning: for dark interiors, walls with no water point and facades too tall to tend. Fixed to the structure on a detail your engineer can check.
- No water or light
- Fire-retardant foliage
- UV-stabilised outdoors
- Up to 79 m high

In short
Vertvista designs, supplies and installs artificial green walls (artificial vertical gardens) for offices, lobbies, retail and building facades across India. We use fire-retardant foliage on facades and in public interiors and UV-stabilised foliage outdoors, on galvanised mesh or modular frames anchored to the structure, with every anchor sealed to protect the waterproofing. An artificial green wall needs no water, light or pruning, only a periodic clean and a check of the fixings. Our largest so far: five walls, each about 79 m high, at Prestige 101, BKC, Mumbai.

Where an artificial wall makes sense
Dark interiors
No daylight needed
Corridors, lift lobbies, basements and meeting rooms without windows, where living plants would need grow lights to survive.
Dry walls
Nothing to plumb
Walls with no water point or drain nearby, and finishes that must stay dry, such as retail fronts and heritage interiors.
Height and exposure
Facades and tall walls
Building faces and boundary walls where watering, pruning and replacing plants at height would be a monthly job.

How we build them
- Survey and designWe measure the wall, check the structure and how we will reach it, then choose the foliage, density and colours. Patterns and logos can be set into the green.
- SamplesSamples for every wall, and full-size sample panels on site for large facades, so you approve the real thing.
- FoliageDense, three-dimensional foliage in mixed greens. Fire-retardant foliage for facades and public interiors; UV-stabilised foliage for outdoor walls.
- FixingFoliage tiles tied to galvanised welded mesh or clipped to modular frames, on brackets anchored to the structure. Anchors are sealed so the waterproofing stays intact, and dissimilar metals are kept apart so they do not corrode each other.
- HeightOn facades, fixings are sized for wind, and the work is planned around the building’s BMU or scaffolding.
- CareNo water, light or pruning. We clean the wall and check the fixings on a schedule, under an AMC if you want us to.

Prestige 101, BKC, Mumbai
India’s tallest artificial green wall, as far as we know.
Five walls, each about 79 m high: fire-retardant foliage on galvanised mesh, sealed anchors, and installed from the BMU while the site around the tower was still being built.
Artificial or living?
| Artificial green wall | Living green wall | |
|---|---|---|
| Light | None needed | Daylight or grow lights |
| Water | None | Drip irrigation and a drain |
| Upkeep | Periodic cleaning and fixing checks | Gardener visits, pruning, plant replacements |
| Over time | Stays the same; outdoor foliage fades slowly in strong sun | Grows, fills in and changes with the seasons |
| Best for | Dark or dry spots, tall facades, hard access | Daylit spaces where people want the real thing |

Frequently asked
Are artificial green walls fire-safe?
Choose fire-retardant foliage, treated so it does not keep burning once the flame is taken away, and ask for the supplier’s test report. We use fire-retardant foliage on facades and in public interiors.
Will an artificial green wall fade in the sun?
Outdoor walls use UV-stabilised foliage, which holds its colour far longer than indoor-grade foliage. In strong sun it still fades slowly over the years, and sections can be replaced without taking the wall down.
How is an artificial green wall cleaned?
Dust is blown or brushed off and the foliage is rinsed or wiped, on a schedule set by how dusty the site is. On tall facades we clean from the BMU.
Can an artificial green wall go on a building facade?
Yes, with UV-stabilised, fire-retardant foliage and fixings sized for wind and anchored to the structure. Our largest is about 79 m high, at Prestige 101, BKC, Mumbai.
Can you add a logo or a pattern?
Yes. Patterns, bands of tone and logos can be set into the foliage. On large walls we size them to read from a distance.
Is an artificial wall cheaper than a living wall?
It usually costs less to run, as there is no irrigation, lighting or plant replacement. The upfront cost depends on the foliage, the fixing and the access, so we quote after a site visit.
