Questions

Questions clients ask us

Short answers about green walls, facades, roofs, office plants, moss, planters, maintenance and where we work.

General

What does Vertvista do?

Vertvista Eco Solutions designs, builds and maintains greenery for workplaces: green walls, green facades, green roofs, office plants for sale or rental, preserved moss walls, FRP and FRC planters and landscapes, with annual maintenance contracts.

Which cities does Vertvista work in?

We have our own teams in Mumbai (head office), Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Gujarat and Delhi NCR, which covers Gurugram, Noida, Greater Noida and Delhi. Larger projects elsewhere in India are handled by our project teams.

How long has Vertvista been working?

Since 2012. We have completed more than 1000 workspaces and run more than 150 maintenance contracts.

Who are your clients?

Corporate offices such as Google, Microsoft, Morgan Stanley and Abbott, developers such as K Raheja Corp, S Raheja Realty and Lodha, hotels such as Taj and Marriott, and the architects and designers who specify us.

How do we start a project?

Send us the site, the size and what you have in mind through the enquiry form, WhatsApp or a call. We visit, then send ideas and a proposal.

Do you work on homes and residential projects?

Yes. Most of our work is for corporates, developers and design firms, and we also build terraces, podiums and landscapes for residential projects.

Green walls

Natural, artificial or preserved moss: which should we choose?

Choose living plants where there is light and you want real growth and seasonal change. Choose artificial where there is no light, no water point or no easy access. Choose preserved moss for interiors that must stay maintenance-free.

We recommend one per wall after a site visit.

Does an indoor living wall need natural light?

Plants need light to grow. Where daylight is limited, we plan grow lighting into the design and choose plants for the light you have.

How is a green wall watered?

Through drip irrigation built into the panels, run by automatic controllers. Sensor-based systems watch soil moisture and the tank level, so watering does not depend on guesswork.

Can we rent a green wall instead of buying it?

Yes. Natural green walls are available on rental with maintenance: we build and look after the wall for a monthly fee.

Who looks after it once it is installed?

Our city gardener teams under an annual maintenance contract: scheduled visits, irrigation checks, pruning, replacements as agreed and a service log after every visit.

Do you work with our architect or fit-out contractor?

Yes. We share plant schedules, CAD details and BOQs, and coordinate installation with your design and fit-out teams.

Green facades

What is the difference between a green facade and a green wall?

A green facade uses climbing plants rooted in planters or the ground, growing up a net or trellis in front of the wall. A green wall holds plants in panels on the wall itself, with irrigation built in.

Facades are lighter and more economical over large areas; living walls are green from day one.

How long do climbers take to cover the net?

It depends on the plant, the sun and the height, and cover builds over growing seasons. Where the facade must look green at handover, we start with pre-grown climbers or combine the net with planter ledges or living panels.

Will it damage the building?

No fixing goes into the cladding: wall points are anchored into the concrete frame, cladding openings are sealed, and stainless steel is kept apart from aluminium. The climbers grow on the net, not on the wall.

Can a green facade go on an existing building?

Usually, yes. We survey the facade, open trial holes where there is cladding, and design the fixings around what we find, with a structural engineer's sign-off.

Which climbers do you use?

We choose for the city, the sun and the height: fast, evergreen climbers for cover, flowering climbers for colour. NCR facades get species proven in North Indian heat and cold.

Who looks after it?

Our teams, under an AMC: pruning, training new growth onto the net, feeding and irrigation checks. Access for this work is planned at design stage.

Green roofs

Can our existing terrace take a green roof?

Often, yes. Lightweight drainage-cell build-ups need minimal retrofitting, but a structural check of the roof always comes first; its capacity decides how deep the build-up can be.

Will a green roof cause leaks?

A well-built green roof protects the waterproofing. The membrane is water-tested before work starts, a root barrier keeps roots away from it and drainage cells carry water to the outlets, which stay accessible through inspection chambers.

How much does a green roof weigh?

When fully wet, typically about 60–150 kg/m² for an extensive roof, about 150–300 kg/m² for a semi-intensive roof and 300 kg/m² and more for an intensive one, before people, paving or trees. Your structural engineer confirms the figure for your roof.

Does a green roof need irrigation in India?

Yes, almost always. Long dry seasons mean even thin roofs need drip irrigation outside the monsoon; deeper roofs need it through the year, on automatic controllers.

Which plants suit Indian roofs?

Hardy, heat- and wind-tolerant groundcovers, grasses and shrubs, chosen city by city: Mumbai's monsoon and salt air call for different species from NCR's summer heat and winter cold.

Can a green roof earn green-building credits?

Vegetated roofs count toward heat-island (roof) credits in IGBC and LEED ratings. We share the areas, build-up and plant details your sustainability consultant needs.

Do you maintain green roofs?

Yes, under an AMC: weeding, feeding, pruning, and regular checks of the irrigation, outlets and inspection chambers.

Office plants

What does plant rental include?

Plants, planters and scheduled care by our gardeners on a monthly contract. We look after the plants so your team does not have to.

Which plants survive in low light?

Snake plant, ZZ plant, peace lily, pothos and Chinese evergreen all cope well in cubicles and corridors with little daylight.

How often do your gardeners visit?

As agreed in your contract, based on the number of plants and the site conditions. Every visit is logged.

Can the planters carry our branding?

Yes. Our FRP planters come in custom sizes, colours and finishes, and can carry your logo or brand colours.

Do you supply office plants in Gurugram and Noida?

Yes. Our Delhi NCR team supplies and maintains office plants, on rent or for purchase, across Gurugram, Noida and Delhi.

Do you supply artificial plants?

Yes, for spots with no light, no water point or no access for care.

Preserved moss

Is preserved moss real?

Yes. It is real moss, preserved so it stays soft and green without water, light or soil. Ours is sourced from Europe.

How long does it last?

Indoors, out of direct sun and away from moisture, it keeps its colour and texture for years.

Does it need any maintenance?

No watering, trimming or feeding. An occasional gentle dusting keeps it clean.

Can moss walls go outdoors?

No. Rain and direct sun damage preserved moss. For outdoor walls we recommend a living or artificial green wall.

Can you make our logo in moss?

Yes. Logos and patterns are usually built in reindeer moss, which comes in 13 colours.

Planters

FRP or FRC: which should we choose?

FRP is lighter and suits upper floors, terraces and planters that may move. FRC gives a natural concrete look and more weight for entrances and landscapes.

Can you make custom sizes and colours?

Yes. We manufacture in Mumbai, so sizes, shapes, colours and finishes are made to order, including large planters for lobbies and podiums.

Do planters come with plants?

Either way. We supply planters on their own or planted, and can maintain them under an AMC.

Can planters carry our logo?

Yes, logos and brand colours can be applied to FRP planters.

Do you deliver outside Mumbai?

Yes, to all seven cities and regions where we operate, including Delhi NCR, and to projects elsewhere in India.

Landscaping

Do you design the irrigation too?

Yes. Our in-house architects plan layout, drainage, lighting and irrigation together, and we install automatic systems.

Can you build a garden on our podium or terrace?

Yes. Podiums and terraces are built as green roofs, on drainage cells over a root barrier and tested waterproofing, after a structural check.

Do you maintain the landscape after handover?

Yes, under a landscape AMC with scheduled gardener visits and supervisor checks.

Do you work on residential projects?

Yes. We work with developers and residential complexes as well as corporate campuses and hotels.

Plant care and AMC

What is an AMC?

An annual maintenance contract: a fixed yearly scope and fee for looking after your plants, green walls or landscape.

How quickly do you respond to problems?

Within 48 hours of a service request.

Do you maintain installations by other vendors?

Yes, after a site survey of what is installed.

How do we know the work is done?

A service log after every visit, plus scheduled reports for your facility team.

Which cities do you cover?

Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Gujarat and Delhi NCR, with city-based gardener teams and supervisors.

Working with architects

Can you work under our brand?

Yes. White-label services are available for design firms.

Do you prepare BOQs for tenders?

Yes: detailed take-offs, cost estimates and technical drawings for your bid, without commitment.

What drawing formats do you provide?

CAD/BIM-compatible drawings, plant schedules and technical specifications.

Can we see plants and finishes before specifying?

Yes. We make mock-ups, sample rooms and material boards.

Locations

Do you have a team in Delhi NCR?

Yes: project and site team in NCR, with design, procurement and planter manufacturing from Mumbai.

Specifying Vertvista

Can you fill our vendor registration form?

Yes. Send us the form or the portal link; we fill it in and add declarations on our letterhead.

Can the spec name ELMICH systems?

Yes. We build with and supply ELMICH (Singapore) green-wall and landscape-engineering systems in India, so a clause can name ELMICH supplied by Vertvista, or approved equivalent.

Why “or approved equivalent”?

It keeps the tender open. The clause fixes what matters (system type, materials, irrigation, checks and maintenance scope) and leaves plant species, depths and layouts to be confirmed after a site visit.
